Flu, covid vaccine clinic

Friday, Oct. 23, 3 to 6 p.m., Bonner Fire Station (8511 Bonner Mill Rd.)

Missoula Public Health (MPH) is offering multiple vaccine clinics at organizations and schools in October. These clinics are on a first-come, first-served basis and are open to families, individuals and children. Nurses on site will offer covid and flu vaccines only. All clinics require photo ID and insurance card if available. A sliding fee scale is available for those uninsured.

What's new at West Riverside Park?

West Riverside Park (formerly Hellgate Lions Park) on Haaglund Drive will be getting a new playground and a new trail!

The previous playground equipment had reached the end of its useful life and no longer met current safety standards. It was removed in spring of 2026. Missoula County Parks, Trails & Recreation is
actively securing funds for a new, modern playground designed for ages 2 to 12. The total project cost is estimated at $65,000. Funds are anticipated to be secured by winter 2026-2027 with a targeted construction completion date of summer 2027.

A new half-mile natural surface trail is proposed from the park to a scenic overlook on Woody Mountain, featuring interpretive signs highlighting the area’s history, geology, and Indigenous heritage. Trail construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2026, with final hand-built trail work and interpretive features completed in summer 2027, pending final funding.

The barn at West Riverside Park is currently closed due to structural issues with the structure’s floor system. The estimated cost of the floor system repairs is approximately $230,000. In addition, the barn — originally constructed in the 1940s — requires numerous other significant capital improvements, including exterior siding repairs,
bathroom renovations and updates to aging mechanical systems.

The Missoula Food Bank distributes free perishable and shelf-stable food at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (8985 Hwy. 200) from 4 to 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Food is available to anyone – no questions asked.

This program is partially supported by a $70,000 grant from the Missoula County Community Assistance Fund.

Improvements to playground, community park

The Bonner Playground and Community Park was awarded $25,000 from the 2026 Missoula County Community Parks and Recreation Grants Program for phase 2 playground improvements, including ADA accessible swings, a volleyball court and other independent play components.

Representation

The Bonner-Milltown Community Council is comprised of seven residents and meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of most months at the Bonner School cafeteria. Click here to learn more about the community council, including minutes, agendas, bylaws and contact information.

Community councils act as a liaison between the citizens of their communities and the county commissioners, providing information deemed useful, beneficial and helpful in decisions that affect the community. Community councils are advisory only and have no tax or other governmental powers.
