Missoula County is accepting grant applications for the Mental Health Fund, which supports local crisis intervention and stabilization services for children and adults experiencing behavioral health crises.

Nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies that provide crisis behavioral health services are encouraged to apply at http://missoula.co/grantportal by 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 22.

The Mental Health Fund is intended to provide gap funding for local crisis services that provide stability and support a continuum of care for people in crisis. Eligible costs include operations, personnel, direct services, planning and training. Details and links to the Notice of Funding Availability are available online.

The Mental Health Fund is levied annually and appears on property tax bills as the “county mental health treatment” line item. An estimated $132,838 in funding is available for fiscal year 2027. The Missoula Board of County Commissioners will determine the final funding amount. Missoula County will award funding to two organizations based on application scores.

Previously funded projects include peer support and crisis intervention through Stepping Stones Behavioral Health Services, as well as a social worker position at the Missoula Public Library who provides on-site crisis support, resource navigation and connections to care.
