A Priority for Missoula County
Missoula County is addressing the effects of climate change and building resiliency in our government operations and throughout our communities. Missoula County first recognized the threat of climate change in the 2016 Growth Policy, which included the following goal: "Missoula County seeks to reduce its contribution to climate change while promoting resiliency and adapting to its impact on the natural environment and communities."
The Missoula County Sustainability Program was created in 2017 to advance climate action in county operations and other goals. Staff are working achieve carbon neutrality across County government, increase access to clean, affordable energy for everyone, and provide tools and information to help residents prepare for and deal with extreme weather events including wildfire, smoke, heat, drought, flooding and storms.
