Jeremiah Petersen, Missoula County Sheriff and Coroner, shares 2025 statistics demonstrating the hard work of the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office in 2025.

"These numbers demonstrate a continued commitment by this office for proactive citizen engagement, traffic safety, and care, custody, and supervision of those held in the Detention Facility," stated Petersen.

The Patrol Division responded to:

  • 16,181 officer-initiated calls (4,552 more calls than in 2024)
  • 5,584 calls received by 9-1-1
  • 5,650 phone calls
  • 268 DUI Stops (101 more than 2024)
  • A total of 27,415 calls for service

In addition to numerous calls for service above, the patrol deputies also had 6,662 traffic stops; nearly double the number of stops in 2024.

Our Detective Division took action on:

  • Approximately 500 cases investigated
    • 216 cases were either referred to the County Attorney’s Office, closed, determined to be informational or unfounded
    • 173 cases were carried over into 2026 for further investigation
  • They also logged 3,737 items of evidence, took 214 walk-in reports, requested 197 search warrants, and responded to 72 online reports.

Missoula County Detention Facility booked:

  • 4,361 adults (an average of one individual every two hours)
  • 3,301 of those individuals were arrested on new offenses or warrants
  • 245 juveniles

"2025 was a very busy and productive year for Missoula County Sheriff’s Office and the numbers reflect our service to the communities in Missoula County," said Petersen. "I recognize that behind these numbers are hard work, early mornings, late nights, and missed family time. It’s an honor to serve alongside these dedicated men and women."
