Missoula County invites residents to participate in the 2026 Housing and Community Development Survey. The survey helps to identify needs and gaps in services related to public infrastructure and facilities, economic development and housing.

Public input will inform Missoula County’s federal grant acquisition efforts through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds. Community participation is an essential part of the planning process and helps ensure funding decisions reflect local priorities.

The survey opens Monday, March 2, and closes at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, March 31. It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, and all responses are confidential and anonymous. Residents can access the survey on Missoula County Voice.

Examples of projects that can be funded include, but are not limited to:

  • Temporary housing facilities, such as homeless shelters or domestic violence shelters.
  • Rehabilitation of owner-occupied homes that are determined to have critical health and safety deficiencies.
  • Improvements to a community’s water and/or wastewater system.
  • Assisting businesses with job creation, retention and job training through low-interest loans.

Survey results will be presented in person at a public meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, in the Sophie Moiese Room of the Missoula County Courthouse Annex, or virtually via Microsoft Teams. Information on how to join the meeting virtually will be available online at  http://missoula.co/bccpublicmeeting.
