County, City Issue Reminders as Windy, Snowy Conditions Continue

Posted on December 17, 2025

Weather Response Update (2)

  • Emergency responders are on the job throughout Missoula County as windy and wintry weather continue. They are clearing downed trees and responding to 9-1-1 calls. Power utilities are also working on downed lines to restore power.
  • Residents who can wait to clear tree debris from private property until after the storm should do so. Dispose of tree debris at the Missoula landfill. Garden City Compost is unable to take tree debris at this time because of a construction project. City crews are preparing for snow removal operations to manage the snowfall expected later today and will not establish drop sites for debris. Crews are managing large downed trees and working to keep streets open to traffic.
  • There will be a sustained closure of Gharrett Street between Arcadia and South Hills Drive because of downed trees and power lines. Please observe the detours.
  • Colder temperatures and possibly snow are coming. Please watch for weakened trees and hanging limbs.
  • Do not touch downed power lines. Please call 9-1-1 to report downed lines and trees. For non-emergency debris removal from City trees, submit a City Tree Service Request at www.missoulaparks.org.
  • Please don’t forget to check on your neighbors.
