Jail Diversion
In 2015, Missoula County began taking critical steps in addressing important issues facing our community: jail overcrowding and over-incarceration/inappropriate incarceration. These are complex issues that require community input and strategic, evidence-based programming to begin seeing sustainable results.
In 2016, the commissioners signed resolution 2016-171 to formally adopt the Jail Diversion Master Plan as a guiding document to determine future efforts that address jail overcrowding.

Sequential Intercept Mapping
Sequential Intercept Mapping Model, or SIM, is used to "determine gaps in services, and plan for community change. These activities are best accomplished by a team of stakeholders that cross over multiple systems, including mental health, substance abuse, law enforcement, pretrial services, courts, jails, community corrections, housing, health, social services, peers, family members, and many others."
